What Is Immune System In Our Body
The immune system is made up of organs, cells and chemicals that help us to fight with infection. The main parts of the immune system are white blood cells (WBC), antibodies, the complement system, the lymphatic system, the spleen, the thymus, and the bone marrow. These are the parts of your immune system that actively fight with infection.
The white blood cell is known as the memory cell. The immune system keeps a record of defeated every microbe. The immune system can recognize and destroy the microbe infection quickly if it enters the body before it can multiply and make you feel sick.
Some infections, common cold and as many different viruses can cause illness. Catching a cold or flu from one virus does not give you immunity against the others.
As well as the immune system, the body has several other ways to defend itself against microbes, including:
Skin:- A waterproof barrier that has secretes oil with bacteria-killing properties
Lungs:- Mucous in the lungs traps foreign particles and Mucous help to upward out the cough.
Digestive tract:- The acid in the stomach that can kill most microbes
Other defenses:- Body fluids like skin oil, saliva and tears contain anti-bacterial enzymes that help reduce the risk of infection. The constant flushing of the urinary tract and the bowel also helps.
Immune System Response in Fever
With some infections, A rise in body temperature or fever can happen. This is actually an immune system response. A rise in temperature can kill some microbes and other infections. Fever also triggers the body's repair process.
Common Disorder of Immune System
It is common people have an over or underactive immune system. The overactive immune system can take many forms such as:-
Allergic Diseases:- Allergic diseases are very common when an over strong immune system is present in your body. They include allergies to food, medication, fever, sinus, and asthma and many more.
Autoimmune Disease:- where the immune system mounts a response against normal components of the body. Autoimmune diseases range from common to rare. They include autoimmune thyroid disease, type 1 diabetes and many more.
When the immune system is lower in your body is called underactive and immunodeficiency.
Result of medical treatment:- this can occur due to medications such as corticosteroids or chemotherapy
